A G16 Group meeting was held at the Novotel Hotel, Muscat Oman in January 2020. The objective of the meeting was to review the proposal on Allocation of Fishing Opportunities for IOTC Species and to discuss other proposals as well as strategise for the upcoming IOTC’s 6th meeting of the Technical Committee on Allocation Criteria and the 24th Session of the IOTC Commission meetings.
The meeting in Muscat, Oman, was a huge success in bringing together the G16 members and further strengthening their purpose. They also prepared for the IOTC Commission meeting scheduled for May in Bali, Indonesia. The outcome of the meeting was agreements to revisions of the draft Allocation Proposal and agreeing a set of topics for new proposal formulation for the annual meeting. It was further agreed to develop a website for the G16 for more effective sharing of information among the members.
The meeting was sponsored by the Government of Oman and the International Pole and Line Foundation.
