The eleventh session of the G16 meeting was the first to specifically discuss the Allocation issues. The first draft the Allocation of Fishing Opportunities of IOTC Species was discussed during this meeting. The meeting was inaugurated by Minister of the Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources, Dr Mohamed Shainee.

The G16 is a group of like-minded coastal states of the Indian Ocean who has a common objective – the sustainable utilization of Indian Ocean tuna and tuna-like resources for the benefit and future of all coastal states.
